Imitation jewellery is honest jewellery — but it asks for a little kindness in return. Here is the routine we teach every Kratim customer.
Perfume first, jewellery last. Alcohol and fragrance oils are the fastest way to dull gold plating. Finish your entire routine — perfume, hairspray, lotion — and only then put your pieces on.
Wipe after every wear. A soft, dry cloth across the metal removes skin oils before they can settle. Ten seconds that add years.
Store each piece alone. The box your Kratim piece arrived in is not packaging — it is furniture. Stones scratch stones; keep pieces separated, away from sunlight and bathroom humidity.
Never water. No showers, no pools, no washing dishes. Kundan settings hold their stones on lac, and water is lac's only enemy.
Once a season, check your closures. Dori ties fray, hooks loosen. If anything feels tired, write to us — our atelier restrings and re-tightens Kratim pieces at no charge.
Cared for like this, a plated piece keeps its light for many, many festive seasons.
